Currently the business: Rockhampton Veterinary Clinic is operated as a company by a sole proprietor, Barrett Hasell PTY LTD.

The business was purchased from Linda Rodgers in March 2011; widow of late Alister Rodgers, who died while suffering from Hendra virus after attending to an infected horse. Alister had built up the veterinary business after renovations to the current building were completed in June 2004.

The building has been used in the past as a church, Sunday school, kindergarten, dance hall and TV repair shop. Originally, Rockhampton Veterinary Clinic was established by Lester Torenbeek in August 1977, and sold to Dr. Rodgers in March 2001.

Barrett Hasell was employed by Dr Rodgers in 2006 after working for the UQ Vet School for 5 years. At the time of Dr Rodgers illness and sudden passing away in August 2009, Dr Hasell was employed by the QLD DPI. Many of the current staff worked with Dr Rodgers, and continue to provide veterinary services with the same integrity and dedication.

Renovations were designed to ensure a purpose built facility to cater for a veterinary practice that ensures a comfortable waiting area for clients and patients, three consulting rooms, adequate general working area to perform anaesthetic inductions and monitor patient recoveries, x-ray facility, theatre and hospital wards to accommodate day-procedure patients as well as animals that require ongoing hospitalisation. An isolation ward is reserved for contagious disease cases, to safe-guard other day patients from being exposed to harmful germs.

Equipment to perform digital x-ray, ultrasound, blood chemistry, autoclaving of a range of surgical instruments, modern air driven dental machinery and more, complement the fit out of this practice. Skilled use of this equipment enables us to do our best to diagnose conditions your pet may suffer from, and often administer suitable treatment to resolve their issues. When unable to assist, we have a good network of specialists to refer to, should you wish to go to every effort to resolve complex veterinary conditions. We provide a hydrobath for use to get your pets washed and free of parasites when required.
