Dr. Barrett Hasell

BVSc, M.Med. Vet, GD Animal Chiro - Veterinarian, Proprietor

I graduated from the Vet school Onderstepoort, near Pretoria (UP) in South Africa in 1987, completed a Masters of Veterinary Medicine in 1996 from the Medical University of South Africa (MEDUNSA), completed the Veterinary board exams (Australian)in 1999 and a graduate diploma in Animal Chiropractic from the Royal Melbourne Institute of TAFE (RMIT) in 2003. I consider myself very privileged to have worked in a variety of fields that veterinary science offers, as well as having an opportunity to impart some experiences to budding veterinarians while working for the UQ Vet school for 5 years. My veterinary interests include holistic medicine relating to wellness and dietary management of animals, movement and lameness, and surgery. Past experience relates to small animal hospital management, performance horses, ruminant medicine, nutrition and reproductive soundness of bulls.

My family migrated to Australia in 2000 and we are proud citizens after naturalisation in 2004. My wife, Mandy works as an accountant for a local accounting practice. Her tireless effort ensures the business remains solvent, keeps current with equipment and remains viable to offer the services we advertise. We met more than 20 years ago through our mutual interest in horses. We have two sons: the older studying at JCU, and younger at high school in Rocky. Our two family pets, Bonnie – a Scottish Terrier and Tessa – an English Springer Spaniel, love an outing to the beach as often as possible, otherwise local walks are top on the list of preferred activities.

Dr. Meg Cassar

BVSc (Hons) - Full Time Veterinarian

I graduated from the Veterinary School of UQ with honours in 2005. Since then I have been at Rocky Vet for the past 6 and a half years, with a break for a year in 2007/8. During the break I travelled around Australia and gained further experience working as a locum veterinarian in various practices. I am passionate about working with a variety of animals, with a special interest in exotics, including birds, reptiles, “pocket pets” and wild life.

Dr. Sue Connor

I graduated from Queensland University with a B.V.Sc (Hons) in 1992, and have worked within the Rockhampton region ever since. Initially, I worked in mixed practice for ten years, however my love for small animals now sees me primarily working in Small Animal Practice.

My husband and I are the proud parents of three beautiful children and now live on a cattle property west of Rockhampton. Included in our family are three cats, two dogs plus numerous horses and cattle.

As a veterinarian I love the satisfaction of helping people's beloved pets and developing a personal relationship with both owner and pet.

I have worked as a veterinary nurse at Rocky Vet for ten years. Before becoming a vet nurse, I was a human nurse. My training was done at the Royal South Sydney Hospital, NSW. I love animals with a passion, have two Blue Cattle dogs – Jane and Ashley, and a very spoilt cat called Annie.

I have worked as a veterinary nurse at Rocky Vet for three and a half years, since completing a degree in Veterinary Technology at UQ. I love animals of all kinds and have two dogs and a cat.

I have been working as a vet nurse for two and a half years, starting in Perth, WA and now with Rocky Vet. I love caring for animals and have many of my own, including horses, dogs and birds.
